Karnataka Chief Minister
Sri. Siddaramaiah, announced a special relief to the vehicle owners in the
state. Between August 23rd To 12th September, individuals whose traffic fines ( E-Challans) are outstanding can pay half the amount, it means people only have to pay 50% amount.
According to the government, this action will benefit lakhs
of citizens who had old challans pending since many years. A lot of vehicle owners
could not afford the fines that were imposed. Through this discount, they are
able to pay their dues.
Traffic police have hailed the move, as it will help clean
up the road discipline. After paying up their arrears, people should be more
cautious of the traffic rules. This action will also help the city reduce
traffic offences.
The plan is also assumed to generate crores of rupees in
terms of revenue that will be utilized towards improved traffic management,
road safety, and city infrastructure.
The government intends to bring in a safer and more
disciplined traffic system in Bengaluru with this initiative.
